Since smart phone manufacturers must continually satisfy increasing consumer expectations, they’re driven to introduce smaller and more sophisticated devices, just to stay in business.

The ban is an attempt to reduce the number of robberies, known locally as “saidinha de banco” (exiting the bank), where a thief within the bank communicates with an accomplice outside to rob a customer when the customer exits the bank.
In the USA some courtroom Judges are also banning the use of cell phones in their courtrooms to prevent witnesses and juries from being photographed and videoed during criminal trials. The use of the smart phones in courts has led to harassment and intimidation, including posting of the material on social media sites. Such a ban would help protect witnesses and juries from these abuses.
